I have always been a maker. For years, my life has been a high-stakes balance of logic and logistics—navigating the fast-paced world of publishing by day and the beautiful chaos of my children by night. Throughout it all, I’ve felt that constant "neurodivergent, crafter-at-heart pull" to just forget the deadlines and tantrums and just go create. Beneath that barely composed exterior, I was searching for a different kind of rhythm.

I’ve spent my life exploring every corner of the creative world, from the structural art of wreath design to decades of dedication to the precision of crochet. Then, I found polymer clay.

The Art of the Quiet

For those of us with minds that never truly rest, the world is a constant hum of racing thoughts and "to-do" lists. Clay changed that. In my studio, the noise stops. There are no patterns to follow and no "wrong" movements—only the tactile, meditative process of bringing art to life. This is where my imagination runs wild, and where I found my own version of kindness.

It is a rhythm I’m now passing down as I raise my own neuro-spicy, wonderfully creative, outside-of-the-box kiddos.

Why "Are You Kind?"

Kindness is the core of humanity. It is the most abundant, life-saving, and completely free gift we can offer, yet we so rarely extend it to ourselves. As a second-generation Deadhead, the name is a nod to the music that shaped me, but the mission is universal: We cannot pour from an empty cup. Are You Kind? Clay Co. was built on the belief that kindness—including self-kindness—isn't a luxury; it’s a necessity.
